Finding God’s Grace as a Single Mom
Let’s be real: life as a single mom is a whole mood. Between the carpool chaos, snack negotiations, and late-night laundry sessions, it can feel like the only holy thing in your life is the pile of unmatched socks that keeps multiplying like the loaves and fishes in Matthew 14.
But hear us out, Mama!
God’s grace isn’t just tucked away in church pews or quiet-time devotionals (although those are great too). It’s in your everyday moments—right there in the real-life, peanut-butter-smudged, messy middle.
Faith Isn’t Fancy
We love a good mountaintop moment as much as the next person, but most of our lives are lived in the “in-between,” like Target runs, school pick-ups, and microwave dinners.
The truth? Those are the places where God loves to show off.
God's grace is there when you’re holding it together with dry shampoo and drive-thru fries. When you whisper a prayer before a hard conversation or speak kindness over your kids when patience is gone—girl, that’s walking in faith.
He’s not waiting for you to be perfect. He’s just waiting for you to look up.
Gratitude Is The Game-Changer
It’s easy to focus on what’s hard (because let’s face it—a lot is hard), but here’s a little secret: Gratitude doesn’t ignore the pain; it invites God into it.
Look for the “thank you” moments in your day.
Maybe it’s your child’s giggle during a bedtime story. Or the friend who dropped off coffee when you didn’t even ask. Or the 5-minute shower where nobody interrupted. (Cue the Hallelujah chorus.)
These moments aren’t little. They’re big signs of a God who sees you and loves you. Gratitude helps you see that, too.
Reclaiming You
We know how easy it is to lose your sense of self in the day-to-day grind of motherhood. But you, Friend, are more than a chauffeur, chef, or conflict-resolution specialist (though you do crush those roles).
You are still the creative, radiant, whole person God made, with dreams, gifts, and a purpose beyond your to-do list.
Take time—even if it’s just 15 minutes—to do something that reminds you of who you are. Read the book. Paint the thing. Go for that walk. Blast the worship music. Laugh with your friends. Dance in your kitchen.
“Your identity isn’t “single mom.” That’s a part of your story, but not the whole story.”
You’re a daughter of the King, and He’s writing a masterpiece with your life, even on the days it feels like a mess.
Grace on Grace on Grace
Here's the best part: God’s grace doesn’t run out.
Not on the days you feel like Supermom, and not on the days you cry in the bathroom with the door locked. (Hey, we’ve all been there.)
So, give yourself permission to stop striving for perfection and start looking for grace in the small, sacred, silly, beautiful moments of every day because God is already there.
And so are we—your seasoned single mamas cheering you on, praying for you, and reminding you of who you are.
You’ve got this, mama. And more importantly? God’s got you.
